AUM is proud to announce the imminent launch of the Cloud and Autonomic Computing Research Center (Malta), under the stewardship of Dr. Salim Hariri. This exciting development comes following the engagement of Dr. Hariri, professor of electrical and computer  Engineering at the University of Arizona and co-director of its world-renowned Cloud and Autonomic Computing Center (CAC). The AUM research facility will serve as a satellite of the CAC.

This initiative is the result of a grant from the National Science Foundation in the US, which will partially underwrite its costs. The Centre is scheduled to commence operations this fall, following procurement of state-of-the-art equipment, the installation of which Dr. Hariri and his team will supervise. An inaugural workshop is planned for late fall.

AUM will explore the possibility of utilizing the Centre for graduate and undergraduate degree programs in subjects such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The establishment of such academic programs would complement the Centre’s research projects while providing students with an invaluable opportunity to keep abreast of cutting-edge developments in these burgeoning fields. Additionally, the laboratory will be used to offer industry training courses in cybersecurity, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. AUM President Dr. Lewis Walker noted, “AUM is delighted to inaugurate this centre. This affiliation with one of the leading research centres in cybersecurity in the world will certainly open doors to future opportunities for us all.”
