Welcome to the AUM Library

The AUM Library houses a collection of breadth and depth that complements the curriculum and research areas of the AUM community.

With a focus on electronic resources (1,000,000 eBooks and 10,000 eJournals), the Library is accessible 24/7 from anywhere in the world. Whether it’s 3pm or 3am, the Library will provide students with all the resources they need. If a faculty member is presenting a paper in another country and needs a last-minute fact or two, he/she can count on the Library’s support.

Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention service that checks your writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying. When you submit your paper, Turnitin compares it to text in its massive database of student work, websites, books, articles, etc.

Copyright FAQs

The documents stored in Course Reserves are protected under copyright law. If you limit materials to single articles from journals or chapters from books already owned by a faculty member or the Library, you may request that these be digitized by the Library. If you plan to use the materials again, you must obtain permission from the publisher.

The guidelines for educational or fair use of multiple copies for classroom use apply. For example, if the document is one article from a journal or a book chapter and there is inadequate time to request permission to duplicate it, you can do so only once. If you plan to use materials in more than one term, you will need to obtain permission from the publishers.

If you limit materials to single articles from journals or chapters from books already owned by a faculty member or the Library, you may link to digitized materials, or even digitize them yourself, for use in your web-based course. The course must be password-protected and accessible only to students enrolled in the course. The materials must be removed at the end of the term as soon as the course is over. If you plan to use the materials again, you must obtain permission to use them.

There are several ways to obtain copyright permission for use of electronic or print articles.

Contact each publisher of the article you want to use. This is the cheapest method. You will be charged only the copyright (royalty) fee plus a charge for the number of copies of each article you plan to use. In some cases, depending on the publisher and the publication, permission may be free.

Instruction

Library instruction can help reduce the anxiety and frustration that some students feel when they are required to use library resources to complete a research assignment. Instruction sessions allow students to have hands-on practice with databases and other resources under the supervision of a librarian. Scheduling a library instruction session also saves faculty time from having to answer individual questions about the research process and appropriate sources to use. The quality of students’ papers may also improve, because they will know more about the research process, evaluating information, and how to find resources to support their assignments.

Information literacy instruction is most effective when it is integrated into your course. We will collaborate with you to:

Determine the most appropriate resources for the instruction session.

Schedule library instruction when your students are working on their research assignments and are most motivated to learn and receptive to new ideas and methods.

Use the form below to request a library instruction session. Please allow a minimum of one week's notice prior to your request date.
